Amazon continues to grow: the Internet retailer plans thousands of new jobs. The number of jobs is also to be expanded in Germany.

Seattle. The world’s largest online retailer Amazon wants to create more than 15,000 new jobs in Europe this year, of which more than 2,000 will be in Germany. It’s all about different qualifications and work experience – “from engineers to software developers to beginners and trainees,” announced Amazon on Monday.

In the UK Amazon wants to increase the number of jobs this year by 5000 to around 24,000 after the Brexit decision. In early January, Amazon had already announced to create 100,000 new jobs in the US. By mid-2018, the number of full-time jobs in the country should be increased from 180,000 to 280,000, it said.

Professionals are in demand

The group has a strong need for professionals because of its ambitious growth plans with a large cloud business and new products such as digital voice assistant Alexa. At the same time, the workplace offensive of the shopping giants in the US was also a source of water for the mills of US President Donald Trump, who had promised a job boom in the election campaign. Other US companies had announced plans to create jobs in the US.
